- What’s this all about then? nothing. it’s not about anything.
- Why is it here? it was fun and easy to do.
- What’s the point? (see bullet #1)
- I don’t get it..? you don’t need to.
- Aren’t you a little old for this? up yours, grandad!
- Shouldn’t you spend your spare time more productively? one of the ways I try to improve the world is by making myself a happy participant in it.
- How can you put adverts on your site when privately you shun advertising in all forms? it’s not my only double-standard. if you boycott my site in protest, I applaud.
- Aren’t you concerned potential employers night see this? if this site bothers them, it wouldn’t have worked out. if they like it, it only took 2 days to build
- Is there a God? there is *no* god - you’re talking to yourself (if it’s talking back you might want to see a doctor). the world is quite beautiful enough without adding any supernatural spice.
- Why skateboards? well, i don’t know but here are a few thoughts:
- things that are good for us (as a species) are pleasurable: ripe fruits, sex, savanna lanscapes, play, etc.
- we contain within us the mental foundations of the genera and species from which we evolved.
- apes (and other mammals) play to learn the skills needed to survive in their environment, including balancing in the branches of trees. This useful playfulness is rewarded with pleasure.
- the pleasure of this playfulness is still available to me, just as the pleasure of surfing is shared by humans and dolphins alike (see below).
also it’s fun to overcome the fear of falling.
- What should I do with my life? you’ll need to figure that out yourself and spend as long as you need, but try not to take it too seriously. make as many mistakes as you can, pursue fun and pleasure with every breath and be suspicious of anyone offering financial advice. neither live for the future nor lament the past. now is all that will ever matter. the words *should*, *shouldn’t*, *never* and *forever* are mostly meaningless. (no one asked this, but I was on a roll)
